Licensing Programs

Linden Lab offers several licensing programs for its intellectual property, which includes the Second Life Viewer source code and Linden trademarks.

  • Code Licensing
    • Second Life Viewer Licensing
      • The Second Life Viewer is available under the GNU General Public License, version 2.0, with a FLOSS exception. The artwork is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License.
      • If the terms of the GPL do not suit a project, a Commercial License may be applied for.
    • Second Life Server Licensing
      • Linden Lab does not license server-side components. If you wish to be informed in the event we launch a Second Life Server Licensing Program, please submit your contact information.
  • Brand Licensing
    • Our trademarks include our word marks or brand names like Second Life®, Second Life Grid™, SL™, SLurl™, Linden™, LindeX™, and Linden Lab®. They also include our distinctive logos like the Second Life Eye-in-Hand logo, the Second Life Grid logo, the inSL Cube logo, and the Linden Lab Hexagon logo.
